MILA C. VELASQUEZ, MN, RN is known within the nursing profession and community as a leader, educator, researcher and advanced practitioner. She has received numerous professional awards for her leadership achievements and outstanding public service at the local, national and international community. She’s a strong advocate for ethnic minorities as evidenced by her significant achievements as:
    • Nurse Executive Consultant, Health Care Services International, providing healthcare outreach programs to underserved population.
    • Member Advisory Council and Past President of the Philippine Nurses Association of America.
    • Member of NCEMNA’s Board, Vice President and Advisory Council member prior to being elected President.
    • Recipient of American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2009-2010 Cultural Health Initiative Award for distinguished commitment to AHA’s mission and volunteer outreach activities to reduce health disparities, improved heart and stroke knowledge. Participated in the Health Equity Action Summit and Strategic Planning in 2010 and the AHA National Diversity Leadership Committee until 2013.

    She received her BSN and Master of NURSING degrees with Honors at the University of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines. As a national scholar of the Dept of Veteran’s Affairs and the Dept of Defense; she completed her postgraduate certificate for ADULT NURSE PRACTIONER at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Graduate Nursing Program in Bethesda, Maryland
