  • Sandy is an enrolled member of Lower Sioux Mdewakanton Community, Morton, MN, and currently Executive Director of Hospital Operations at Gundersen Health System, in La Crosse, WI. She provides administrative leadership for the Hospitalist Program, Central Staffing Office and overall Hospital Operations. Sandy received her BSN St. Olaf College and pursued her master’s education at Augsburg College, with a focus in transcultural nursing and community care. Sandy’s professional nursing involvement has included: WONE; AONE – completing a 3 year term on AONE’s Nurse Leader journal editorial board; National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurses Association; and the National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Association – served as secretary from 1/00-9/02, 7/13-11/14. Sandy co-authored, “The Essence of Native American Nursing” (Journal of Transcultural Nursing, 1999) with the late Dr. Roxanne Struthers; co-authored AONE Nurse Leader Diversity Modules (2000); in 2009 published an interview with Sandra Haldane, featured as the “Nurse Leader to Watch” in AONE’s Nurse Leader journal. She has contributed to curriculum development for general diversity and clinical education at Gundersen Health System and the La Crosse Health Science Consortium
